Online Collaboration System Google Wave Alternative
Placement duration guesstimate ~2 weeks, immediate startOverview
Having several sites and remote workers we have been using Google Wave for online collaboration.Google will be closing Wave down and so we have the requirement to either:
- Find a new online collaboration system;
- Or migrate from Google Wave to walkaround.
What we would like the placement to accomplish is the setting up of walkaround and the transfer of our data from Google Wave. If this is found to not be possible then the investigation into an alternative system resulting in getting all sites up and running with a new system.
Skills
The placement will need the following skills:- Ability to work with remote sites and workers;
- Familiarity with online systems: email, instant messaging and online collaboration;
- Familiarity with installing and configuring operating systems and software on Virtual Machines;
- Either prior knowledge or ability to adapt to using Linux, Java, Ant and Subversion.
The placement my not need skills in exact same systems mentioned as long as they are able to research and quick apply knowledge of similar system to the current task.
The placement will be working with remote technical staff who will be able to assist whenever needed and help guide the project.

Unpaid placements for people who are looking for experiance in our
sector.
Due to cancellations some opportunitys have opened up for a one week placements
based at our Chillingham Raod store or our South Sheidls store.

Requirments:
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the following programmes.
Adobe CS3 or greater - In Design, Illistrator, Photoshop.
Tasks:
1. To assist with developing a range of template designs
2. To assist with producing live client work
The dates are as follows:
Duration: 3rd January - 6th January 2012
Hours: 9am - 5pm
Available: 1 x Chillingham Road Store and 1 x South Sheilds Store

Placement updates:
We currently have four NVQ level 3 Apprentices working within our company.
The apprentices carry out a range of roles including sales, customer service and print and design.
Apprentices have been supplied by Distinctive Training Gateshead.
